Watercolor Cardinal

This easy Watercolor Cardinal is a super fun handprint craft you can do! All you need for this craft is a few art supplies and your little ones hand! These cardinals come out so beautiful and wintery and adding some fine glitter (totally optional!) at the very end gives it a frosty shimmer!

supplies needed for cardinal craft:

instructions:

  • Start by painting your child’s palm and fingers using the red watercolor paint and paintbrush.
  • Next, stamp the palm onto the watercolor paper, centering. Let dry completely; you wouldn’t want the watercolors to blend in this craft specifically.

  • Now, using the paintbrush, draw a branch underneath the cardinal, making it look like it’s sitting on a branch. Let dry.

  • Now, you can add a little bit of snow sparkle by adding dollops of liquid school glue and adding fine glitter. Shake of excess and let dry.

  • Once the cardinal is dry, add the eye and beak using the orange watercolor and black marker. TIP- it’s best to use a fine, thin paintbrush for details like this.
