#1: Pom-pom Sensory Bin
This Pom-pom Sensory Bin is one of the easiest sensory bins you can set up!
materials:
- Large bin (storage bin)
- Pom-poms (assorted sizes are fun)
- Scoops (linked similar)
- Play pots and pans (linked exact)
Instructions:
- Into the bin, add the pom-poms, a little bit of water and all of the scoops and pots/pans.
TIP– Try freezing the pom-poms by placing them in water to soak and laying them out on a tray to freeze. Perfect for summer sensory bins!

#2: Sorting Pom-poms by Size Activity
This Sorting Pom-poms by Size Activity is an easy and educational activity that is super low-prep! You can set it up in less than a minute (seriously!) and your toddler will be perfectly content and busy in no time 🙂
Materials:
Instructions:
- Start by unrolling and cutting a large piece of easel board paper and taping it to the table where your child will be working.
- Next, using the permanent marker, trace a large lid onto the paper to create two overlapping circles. Label “BIG” and “SMALL” at the top of each circle.
The child must sort the pom-poms and decide which one goes into which spot. It’s super exciting, great for development and gives him/her a little something to stay busy with.
#3: Pom-Pom Stamped Winter Tree Craft
This Pom-Pom Stamped Winter Tree is a simple and fun craft idea for any age! Kids will love this unique way to paint, using a pom-pom!
Materials:
- Light blue cardstock
- Pom-poms (large)
- Clothespins
- White washable kids paint
- Black permanent marker
- Paper plate
- Craft snow (optional)
Instructions:
- First, using the permanent marker draw a tree trunk with branches on the light blue cardstock.
- Next prepare the paint by placing a dollop of white washable kids paint onto a paper plate. Also, make the
“painting tool” by pinching the pom-pom into the clothespin.
Optional (but so beautiful!): when the child has painted the tree, sprinkle the paint while it’s still wet with some sparkling craft snow!
#4: Pom-pom Straw Pull Activity
Do you want an easy, low prep activity that will keep your little ones busy? Try this Pom-pom Straw Pull Activity!
MATERIALS:
- Pom-poms
- Rubber bands
- Straw (I’ve linked our metal ones)
- Bowl
Instructions:
- Wrap as many rubber bands as you need around the bowl to create small holes in between.
- Place pom-poms inside the bowl. Prep the straw.
*MAKE SURE THE CHILD IS SEATED AND SUPERVISED WHEN DOING THIS ACTIVITY*
Rules- The child has to use the straw to “suck” the pom-poms out of the bowl one by one.
#5: Pom-pom Umbrella Craft
This Pom-Pom Umbrella Craft is so festive and colorful!
Materials:
- Cardboard
- Thread
- Sewing needle
- Pom-poms (small)
- Craft scissors
- Washable kids paint
- Paintbrush
- Hot glue gun + glue sticks
Instructions:
Start by cutting out the cardboard into an umbrella (I suggest for the adult to do this step!). Next, allow the kids to paint the umbrella in any color they want and let dry. While the umbrella is drying, make the rain. Cut long piece of thread and loop through the needle. Weave the needle through the pom-poms and spread them out (this step is for adults). We made about 4-5 pom-poms per thread and 3-4 pieces of thread. Hot glue the ready pieces of thread with pom-poms to the umbrella.

#6: Pom-pom Ice Cream Scoop Math Activity
Make learning math FUN with this Pom-pom Ice Cream Scoop Math Activity! It’s quick and easy to set-up and you’ll only need 4 supplies!

Instructions:
Using your best drawing abilities draw about 5 cones at the bottom of the cardstock paper with a light brown permanent marker You can make as many cones as you want math problems. Next, using a different colored permanent marker write a math problem on each cone.
#7: Pom-pom Caterpillars Counting Activity
This Pom-pom Caterpillars Counting Activity is a super fun and exciting counting activity for toddlers and preschoolers!
Materials:
- Card stock (assorted colors)
- Black permanent marker
- Pom-poms (assorted)
- Craft scissors
- Glue
Instructions:
Using colored cardstock cut out 10 circles, glue onto white cardstock (approx. 2″ x 6″) and add a face/antennae. Then, to the side, number each card 1-10 and draw in empty circles corresponding to the number of the card. Super simple!
#8: Egg Carton Pom-pom Color Sort
This Egg Carton Pom-pom Color Sort is not only simple and takes just a few minutes to prepare, but it’s a great RECYCLED idea too. I mean, probably most of us come across an empty egg carton at home so why not make something out of it before it goes into the trash?
Materials:
- Small pom-poms
- 18 egg carton
- Crayons
- Screw driver
Instructions:
Flip the egg carton upside down and color the tops of the egg carton in various colors (my pom-poms were white, yellow, pink and light blue). Once you’ve finished coloring, use the screw driver to carefully poke a hole in each section. You can use a pen or pencil for this step too. Now you’re done and your toddlers are ready to sort!

#9: Pom-Pom Color Sorting
Who doesn’t love a good color sorting activity, such as this easy and engaging Pom-pom Color Sorting?
Materials:
- Pipe cleaners
- Play-dough (we always use ECOKIDS PLAY-DOUGH- non toxic, safe and super soft!)
- Pom-pom beads (pom-poms with a hole!)
Instructions:
Stick the desired amount of pipe cleaners (choosing different colors) into a ball of play-dough and place all of the threadable pom-poms beside it.
Rules are simple- the toddler has to sort the pom-poms by color and thread them onto the correlating pipe cleaner!
#10: Pom-pom Garland Match
There’s nothing like an activity with pom-poms! I don’t know about your kids, but MINE LOVE POM-POMS! They’re so versatile, colorful and fun. Of course dumping them and scattering them all over the place has to be the number one priority. But seriously, this Pom-pom Garland Match is super fun, engaging and helps improve sooooooo many areas of child’s development. It’s easy to set up, totally inexpensive and toddlers will have a blast matching the colorful pom-pom to their right spot.

Draw a garland line on the white cardstock. Then draw colored circles (according to the size and color of your pom-poms). Done! The child has to match pom-poms to the color on the garland and glue it right on top!
#11: Pom-Pom Pumpkin Stamping Activity

With a permanent marker draw a simple pumpkin patch with several pumpkins, vines and leaves, using different colors. Squeeze some paint into a paper plate. Clip a pompom by a clothespin. That’s it. Prep is done! Let kids enjoy this Fall craft by stamping their pumpkins with paint.
#12: Felt Handprint Mittens Craft
This adorable Felt Handprint Mittens Craft is so fun to do with your preschoolers this Winter. They will love tracing their little hands and making THEIR SIZED mittens, decorating them with colorful pompoms and ribbons.Materials:
- Felt (any color)
- Pom-poms
- Ribbon
- Hot glue gun (with extra glue sticks)
- Pen
- Craft scissors
Instructions:
Lay your felt flat on a table and trace one hand of your little one with a pen. Cut out (WITHOUT cutting each individual finger out, sounds so strange to write it out like this but you get it) and use as a stencil to make two mittens.
For the next few steps, I recommend handing the hot glue gun, of course and the child can assist. You can use Elmers Glue by all means, but I feel like hot glue holds waaay better. Glue your ribbons to the cuffs, pom-poms and string.
These make great Christmas tree ornaments or simple decoration pieces around the house or kids room!
#13: Egg Carton Ice Cream Craft
Want an easy and super sweet egg carton craft? This Egg Carton Ice Cream Craft is it!
materials:
- Egg carton
- Craft scissors
- Washable kids paint (brown/beige)
- Paintbrush
- 1.5″ pom-poms (assorted colors)
- Pipecleaners (assorted colors)
- Liquid school glue
- Paper plate
- Q-tip
Instructions:
- Begin by cutting out the pointy, dividing pieces of the egg carton. These will be your ice cream cones.
- Next, paint the cones brown/beige and let dry.
- Now, place a bit of liquid school glue onto the paper plate and arrange the q-tip. You can skip this step with older kids and simply use a squeezable glue bottle.
- Using the q-tip, apply the glue to the inside of the cone along the edges. Place a pom-pom inside to glue and let set.
- Cut up the assorted pipecleaners into small pieces. These will be the sprinkles.
- Lastly, apply a little bit of glue to the top of the ice cream and sprinkle a few of the sprinkles on top. Let dry.
