It’s also great for improving and exercising fine motor skills, cognitive skills as well as for learning colors. It’s fantastic overall, especially the fact that it takes less than 5 minutes to prep 🙂

MATERIALS for Clothespin counting cards:
Instructions:
- Start by cutting out 5 (up to the number you’ll be using) squares/rectangles (approx. 3″x 4″) out of the white cardstock.
- Next, using the colored permanent markers, number each card 1-5 using different colors for each card.
- Now, add the corresponding number of dots at the side (this usually helps the toddlers, can skip for preschoolers).
- Lastly, color the correct number of clothespin with the corresponding color.
What is my child learning and improving?
- Counting (this activity helps the child see the number visually and count out loud the correct quantity of clothespins)
- Numbers (familiarizing and memorizing numbers, the way they look, their order, their quantity)
- Colors (this activity focuses on colors too by allowing the child to match the clothespins to the correct “colored” counting card)
- Fine motor skills (pinching the small clothespins to clip onto the number card)
- Cognitive skills (thinking, analyzing each number, counting, comparing, matching)
