Easy, low-prep activity for toddlers and preschoolers, this Washi Tape Unicorn Rescue Activity is a winner!
This activity was a total hit among my kids while giving me plenty of time to do other things. It was super easy to prep and the kiddos thought it was super exciting and fun. They had races to see who could untape all of the unicorns the quickest and totally had a blast.
You could use any small toys for this activity. Using your kids favorite toys makes this Washi Tape Rescue a unique one for each child! My daughter loves her little unicorns and little ponies, so we used those. But feel free to switch up the toys used!

MATERIALS FOR Washi Tape Unicorn Rescue activity:
- Toy unicorns (we used some little ponies too)
- Flat plate
- Washi tape
You can even skip the flat plate and use the table directly. Just tape the unicorns onto the table itself!
Instructions:
Tape the unicorns using the washi tape to the plate (or table). Done! Can you believe it?
What is my child learning and improving?
- Fine motor skills (picking at the washi tape, lifting it, grabbing the unicorns)
- Creativity
- Busy, independent activity (playing alone for a bit builds childs’ independency and imagination)
TIP- This activity is wonderful as a busy activity for toddlers and even preschoolers. The more unicorns you tape or the more washi tape you use, the more time they’ll spend playing independently!
