This Animal Hunt Match Game is a great activity for kids of all ages!
It’s super quick to set-up and delivers so much fun! All you need is some basic materials and you’ve got kids who are learning, improving different skills and having a great time all at the same time!
Kids love discovering and this Animal Hunt Match Game isn’t only searching for animals but a game too. Find matching pairs of animals by brushing away the oatmeal (aka dirt as noted by my kids) with only two tries. Didn’t match? Next person goes and so on. Kids will use their memory and recognition skills, thus exercising and improving cognitive skills!

Tape pairs of dinosaurs to the bottom of the tray, scattering and mixing them up. Then, spread a layer of oatmeal over the animals. Set the brushes and game on!
What is my child learning and improving?
- Fine motor skills (holding the brush, picking up the animals)
- Sensory play (feeling the animals, oatmeal, brushes)
- Memory (memorizing the spots where each animal was, matching up)
- Cognitive skills (matching, thinking, analyzing, comparing)
TIP- This is a great activity to talk to your child about the different animals, what features do they have, what color are they, where around the world do they live.
