These Play-dough Emotion Cards with Bible Verses are a creative way to familiarize with and learn about emotions.
Toddlers are all about emotions. Actually toddlers and preschoolers. And sometimes they don’t exactly know why they express them, how to control them and why they even have them. As a Christian, God-believing mom, I try to instruct my children to read Gods’ Word, seek understanding of the world right in it and apply the information they read in it to their lives.
And since most of you can imagine lives with toddlers and preschoolers and how many emotions are expressed daily, I thought and activity such as these Play-dough Emotion cards would be an excellent way to learn about emotions and what the Word of God tells us about them.

Materials play-dough emotion cards with bible verses:
- Index cards
- Permanent markers
- Crayon (nude color for face)
- Play-dough (Homemade Recipe)
- Metal jar lid rim
Instructions:
Start by tracing the jar lid rim with the nude crayon (or colored pencil) towards the bottom half of a vertically placed index card and color in. I drew some brown hair too. Next, you can simply write emotions on the top half of the index card, like happy, angry, sad, worried, excited, etc. Or you can find verses in the Bible that speak about these emotions and write them out using the permanent markers.
What is my child learning and improving?
- Emotions (using play-dough to illustrate them)
- Fine motor skills (pinching away small pieces of place-dough, rolling it, placing onto the index card)
- Creativity
- Concentration
- Sensory play (feeling the play-dough, relaxing, sitting still)
