This Cotton Ball Ice Cream Craft is so fun, easy to prep and PERFECT FOR SUMMER! Create a unique painting experience for your little ones using droppers and cotton balls! You’ll be surprised how quick it is to prep too!
My kids had so much fun filling the droppers with watery paint and coloring their cotton ball ice cream with droppers. They loved to blend the colors together and create their own little ice creams!

Materials:
- White cardstock
- Beige cardstock
- Cotton Balls
- Glue
- Washable kids paint (about half teaspoon each)
- Droppers
- Cups with water (half cup)
- Craft scissors
Instructions:
Start by cutting out a long triangle out of the beige cardstock to make the cone (you can use a brown permanent marker or crayon to draw the lines for the cone). Next, cut out 3 small triangles out of the white cardstock and glue like ice cream scoops on top of the cone. Now glue on the cotton balls on top of the white cardstock and let dry a little. Mix 1/2 cup water with half teaspoon of desired washable kids paint in a cup. Repeat with other colors. Stir. Prep droppers and you’re done!

What is my child learning and improving?
- Fine motor skills (pressing and releasing the droppers)
- Creativity (using different colors)
- Independency (great as a busy activity, for quiet time or time outs)
Unclear instructions. No idea on how much water to mix in Jpaint or what kind of paint to use. No of how many drops to put on each cotton ball. Finally gave it up after many tries. Thank goodness I try each craft out before I do it with my group. Would have caused much frustration
Thank you for your feedback! I have edited the instructions so hopefully I’ve cleared up some of your confusion! 🙂
