This Paper Plate Marble Counting Maze is so quick to make and super fun!
It’s a great way to use up extra, odd numbered paper plates (like I have done), plus you probably have the rest of the materials right at home, saving you a trip to the store 🙂
This game, or activity shall you say, is a wonderful way to engage a child and improve many important skills. You’ll be surprised to see the list! Keep reading to see how I’ve made this Marble Maze, what skills the child is exercising/improving and watch our quick video tutorial too!

Materials:
-Paper plate
-Marble or a small bouncy ball
Instructions:
Cut strips of cardstock (approximately 5″x 1″, depending on the size of the marble or bouncy ball) and label each with a number, 1-5 using the colored permanent markers. For each strip, bend and fold the ends inward and glue onto the paper plate. Add the marble/bouncy ball and enjoy the maze!
What is my child learning and improving?
- Gross motor skills (standing, balancing )
- Fine motor skills (holding the paper plate)
- Small motor skills (moving around the paper plate using the upper and lower arms)
- Hand-eye coordination (making the marble/ball go through the tunnels)
- Numbers (name the numbers on top of the tunnels, this will help toddlers familiarize and memorize numbers)
- Even colors! (try naming the colors through which the tunnels the marble goes through)
My kids loved this activity and so did I! I loved that it involved all three of the motor skills; fine, small and gross with such an easy activity! Great as indoor activities, for that matter 🙂 It’s also colorful, engaging and makes learning so much fun!
