Materials:
–Hot glue gun (with extra glue sticks)
Instructions:
Using the craft scissors, cut out a large Christmas tree out of green cardstock. It helps to bend the cardstock in half to cut a more uniform tree. Now, cut strings of green yarn so they extend about an inch on each side of the tree (see picture below if you’re still confused). With the hot glue gun, glue on each of the strings. I made a small dollop of hot glue on each end to glue, that’s it. You don’t need to make a whole line of hot glue. Once all of your strings are hot glued, you’re ready to go.
It’s super easy to explain to the kiddos what the rules are. Trim the tree carefully and have fun!
What is my child learning?
Scissors skills (trimming carefully the extra yarn improves this skill amazingly)
Hand-eye coordination
Fine/small motor skills (using the scissors, holding them with three fingers)
Focus/concentration/effort/patience (trimming a tree takes lots of patience and full concentration!)
